Over the summer we put together a small Rowability Squad which is turning into a big success!

Rowability is about removing the barriers to participation in the sport for anyone who has a physical, sensory or learning impairment.

Last year Twickenham Rowing Club hosted rowing for students from local SEN School Bedelsford. Following the success of this we have gradually been working to integrate Juniors with disabilities into the main Junior Squads.

During the summer a session for adults with disabilities was made possible, when a group Deaf people wanted to take up rowing. We were able to not only provide a weekly session but also a BSL-speaking Coach!

The club work to give people the time they need to develop their skills, and seek every possible way to adapt boats to suit different needs. We are very grateful to British Rowing for all the support and guidance they also give us. Not to mention none of this would have been possible without the Wintech Explore Rowing Boats, which are perfect for adaptive use.

We are able to cater most disabilities, and have a wealth of coaches with experience of working with disabilities. Through the club renovation last year we were able to improve the facilities, including the installation of a lift, and disabled toilet.

If you are disabled and interested in joining either our Adaptive Juniors, or the Adult Rowability Squad please contact Jacqui Johnston
