The Senior Men take part in their erg race (pic: Henry Rogers)
Despite still not being able to get out on the river due to all the snowmelt still roaring down the Thames, February 2nd 2013 still turned out to be a great day for TwRC.

The day started with a club wide erg competition with our Concept 2s linked together for some very close regatta racing on the big screen. Fastest on the day was Tim Moonen who coasted through his heat before turning on the big guns in the final.

Every section of the club took part in the erg competition from our youngest junior to Henry Rogers, our J1 veteren, who showed he is still a match for many of our younger members. The day was also notable for former international Rachel Woolf's long due return to the competitive arena. It turns out she's still got it!

Once the racing was over, everyone piled into the bar to watch two rugby games on the big screen and for what turned out to be an excellent late 80s based disco. The famously generous Twickenham spirit saw us raise a tidy sum during the day, all of which will be ploughed back into the club.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the day possible. Particularly Jimbo Traynor and Rowing Manager Jacqui Johnston for organising the erg competition; Laura Nicholls, Eddy Lester, Austin Bainger, Liz Bushby & Rachel Woolf for expertly manning the bar; Will Barker & Dan Kiernan for organising the barbecue (with sales help from Mike Dowell & Andy Watson); Steve Martin for organising the cake sale (special mention to Jason Boulter for his very generous donation of a huge box of doughnuts) and of course to Captain Paul for all his support.

It was a brilliant day that saw the best of TwRC - sweating on the ergs and drinking in the bar!

And don't forget that we are doing it all again on Saturday February 23rd at our Club Head. Racing, barbecue, cakes, rugby on the big screen and disco dancing... don't miss it!
